Bridgeport Speedways ¼ mile track Opening night 4/11/08
Well the night started off bright, with the sun poking
its head out at times, the 2008 Friday night ¼ mile
racing season was off to a bright start. With 101 total
cars signed in to race on the famed ¼ mile tonight, with
some still needing to be N.J. safety inspected before
getting out on the track, the safety crew was in
overdrive to accommodate all the race
cars. One
round of practice was run for all classes
and all the heat races and one feature was ran before
the rains came. 35, 600cc MicroSprints took the green
flag in 4 heats with wins going to the #29 Nick Sapp,
the #9S Rick Stief, the #026 Jeff Hartman and the
#7h Bill
Thomas. Four heat
wins for the 37, 270cc Micros were won by the #K9 of
Richie Keller, the #44 of John Copeland, the #84j of
Jessica Lindmeier and the #70 of Eddie Wagner. The 4cyls
with 13 cars set to go racing, the 2 heat wins were by
the #4 of Dave Damiano and the #m80 of Mike Hughes. The
always popular Slingshots by Tobias
http://www.slingshotbytobias.com once again invaded
the ¼ mile track. With 16 cars taking the green flag
tonight, they were the only class to get all their races
in with 2 heats and the 20 lap feature being won by the
#56 of young Gary Heiber. The mighty 600cc MicroSprints
then got their Bmain interrupted on the 3rd
lap for a burst of rain. Forcing the race to be stopped
and the cars pulled off the track. With the track taking
water and the rains not letting up the show was called
for the night. The track announced that the 600cc
MicroSprints will have the B main and the feature race
made up next week 4/18 along with the regular scheduled
race night program. The 4 cylinders will have their
feature made up on 4/25 and the 270cc Micros will have
the B main and feature made up on 5/16. It
was announced at the driver/handlers meeting that the
BUCK
HORN Family Restaurant of Paulsboro N.J. would be
sponsoring the 270cc MicroSprint, B main winners
this year. The rains washed out the event before we got
to the 270 B main so we will have to wait till next week
to announce the first
winner of the BUCKHORN 270 B main. And you
thought only NASCAR had the big multi car “Super Teams”,
such as Hendricks Motorsports and Roush Fenway Racing
with 4 cars each, Friday night in the pits at Bridgeport
there were 2 four teams. The Keller clan with 4 cars
“The GO Crew” and the Locuson Family with 4 cars all
with
similar looking paint schemes that were
very impressive, looking good to both
crews. Look to
www.LocalMicros.com for more information on these
teams and others as the season progressives
and for complete race coverage.
Bridgeport Speedways Management team and Track officials
would like to send out their thanks to all the drivers,
teams and fans that showed up for opening night at
Bridgeport Speedways ¼ mile track, It made for a very
impressive and successful opening night. Look to
www.LocalMicros.com for complete year long coverage
of Friday night racing details.

.................... ....................
Joe Ruchlewicz, The Friday nite race director
has announced that The All New Bridgeport Speedway and
their 1/4 Mile dirt track has adopted the new 2008 600cc
Micro Sprint Universal Engine Rules for racing in 2008.
Bridgeport, NJ December 15, 2007 . . .
Joe said he and the speedway has decided to adopt for
2008 the new 600cc Micro Sprint Universal Engine rules
which will standarize the rules for this class with all
the other micro tracks in the tri state area including
the central Pa. micro sprint tracks. It's a start! We
can try to make this a competitive affordable division
as it was first intended to be. I
think you will see this is a fair set of rules and it
was meant to actually keep the cost down and keep new
racers coming to the division.
Micro Sprint racing on the 1/4 track runs from April to
September on Friday nights.
